TULSA, Okla. - The Duke men's tennis team won both of its matches on the final day of qualifying at the D'Novo/ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., advancing one singles player and one doubles team to the main draw.
Freshman Henrique Cunha finished out qualifying with wins in all three of his matches to earn a spot in the singles main draw. He cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Tennessee's Matt Brewer in the final round of qualifying on Wednesday. Cunha has now won seven straight matches to improve to 11-1 in his freshman season.
Cunha and junior Reid Carleton qualified for the main draw with their victory in doubles on Wednesday. The Duke pair defeated Virginia's Milo Johnson and Santiago Villegas, 8-4. Cunha and Carleton are now 6-1 in doubles this season.
The main draw will begin on Thursday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Tulsa.
