Durham, N.C. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association has announced the preseason individual singles and doubles rankings along with the selections for the 2009 D'Novo ITA All-American Championships.
The Duke men's tennis team is represented by four individuals in the rankings with two in singles and one doubles pair. Junior Reid Carleton is the Blue Devils' highest ranked player at No. 29 to start the season. Senior Dylan Arnould cracks the rankings at No. 86. In doubles junior Alain Michel and sophomore Torsten Wietoska begin the season ranked No. 45 in the country.
The D'Novo ITA All-American Championships will be held hosted by the University of Tulsa. The tournament will take place Oct. 3-11 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.
Carleton is one of 47 players chosen for the main draw. There will also be pre-qualifying and qualifying rounds to fill the remaining slots. Duke has three players in the qualifying rounds. Arnould and Wietoska will be joined by freshman Henrique Cunha. In the pre-qualifying the Blue Devils have four players who will be competing to move on. Michel is among the four along with junior Jared Pinsky and sophomores David Holland and Luke Marchese.
Three doubles teams will start the tournament in qualifying rounds. Michel and Wietoska will try to prove their ranking while teams of Carleton and Cunha and Arnould and Holland will join them in qualifying.
