ELON, N.C. - Senior David Holland and sophomore Cale Hammond fell in the first round of the doubles backdraw Saturday at the Elon Invitational, held at the Burlington Tennis Center.

The Duke duo moved to the tournament's backdraw following a tough 9-8 (3) loss on Friday in the first round of the doubles main draw. In Saturday's match, Holland and Hammond were defeated by Coastal Carolina's Matias Di Pasquale and Yusuke Kusuda, 8-4.

In the second round of singles action, senior Torsten Wietoska posted a win over Julian Sullivan of NC State in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. Wietoska - the top seed in the singles main draw - did not compete in his third-round matchup against Ramiro Blanco of South Carolina Upstate.

Meanwhile, Hammond did not compete in his backdraw singles match against Coastal Carolina's Yusuke Kusuda.

Duke continues its fall slate on Oct. 13-17 at the ITA Regional Championships in Durham and Chapel Hill.
