DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke men's tennis team heads into the home stretch of the fall season and continues action this weekend at the Wolfpack Invite. The Blue Devils have just two tournaments remaining following the trip to Raleigh and are breaking up the schedule to close out the fall.
“We have three more weekend events to finish up the fall and we plan on taking four players to each event,” head coach Ramsey Smith said. “I feel like we have made team improvements in each of our three tournaments so far and we are looking to continue the process of growing and improving. Robert, Ryan, TJ, and Jason are getting the opportunity to compete this weekend at the Wolfpack Invite.”
Heading to Raleigh this weekend are freshman Robert Levine, sophomores Ryan Dickerson and Jason Lapidus and senior TJ Pura.
Levine has posted an even 4-4 singles mark during his initial fall with Duke. Dickerson is 1-1 and Lapidus 0-4 in singles while Pura is 5-4.
All four participated in last weekend's ITA Carolina Regional with Dickerson, Levine and Pura winning a Round of 128 match and falling in the Round of 64 in singles. Lapidus dropped both his singles decisions.
In doubles at the regional, Levine and Pura each went 1-1 while Lapidus and sophomore Vincent Lin advanced to the semifinals with a 4-1 record. The duo reached the semis with a grueling 7-6 (7-4), 6-7 (6-8), 1-0 (10-5) triumph against East Carolina's Kasey Countee and Freddie McGeehan in the quarterfinals.
After this weekend's action, Duke heads to the Charlotte Invite from October 28-30.
