DURHAM, N.C. -- Junior men's tennis player
Nicolas Alvarez has had a fall to remember, helping his native country of Peru to a 3-2 victory against Venezuela in the championship match of the Davis Cup Group II Americas tournament in late September.
Alvarez clinched the deciding point versus Venezuela with a comeback 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (2), 6-1 victory against Luis David Martinez.
Alvarez and Duke head coach
Ramsey Smith recently sat down with Blue Devil Network to discuss the experience of playing in the Davis Cup and what the wins meant to Alvarez and the Duke program.
On Thursday, Alvarez will play his first match this fall for the Blue Devils, taking part in the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships main draw.
