Bowden joined the Duke men's golf program in July 2025 after most recently serving as head coach of the UNC Wilmington men’s golf program for eight seasons. Bowden was elevated to the head coaching position for the Seahawks ahead of the 2017-18 campaign and helped his team take home 14 titles, marking Bowden as the winningest men’s golf coach in UNC Wilmington history.
Bowden was named CAA Coach of the Year three times during his UNC Wilmington tenure, including back-to-back honors in 2018 and 19, and capped off with his third selection in 2023.
In postseason play, the Seahawks secured three CAA titles (2018, 2019, 2023) during his tenure and made four NCAA Regional appearances (2018 Bryan, 2019 Athens, 2021 Noblesville, 2023 Norman).
Bowden began his playing career at Georgia Tech as the only freshman to make the team’s traveling squad during the 2006-07 season, helping the team to a team ACC co-championship. He transferred to Furman ahead of the 2008-09 season, where he was a Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-America Scholar in 2009 and 2010, while also helping the Paladins to the 2010 Southern Conference team title.
After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Furman with a degree in Business Administration, Bowden played professionally for five years, highlighted by top-10 finishes on the Korn Ferry Tour and Mackenzie Tour PGA TOUR Canada before turning his focus to coaching.
Daniel comes from a family rooted in the sport of golf, with Bowden’s grandfather playing collegiate golf at the University of Georgia and his father working as a Life Member of the PGA of America as a golf professional.
