Ryota Nakagi began his tenure at Duke in 2022 as an Athletic Training Fellow and was promoted to Assistant Athletic Trainer for track & field in 2023 before working with the softball program in 2025.
Originally from Suita, Osaka, Japan, Nakagi earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from West Liberty University in 2019. Following his undergraduate studies, he served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at East Mississippi Community College from 2019-20, working with the football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball teams.
In 2022, Nakagi completed his Master of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Athletic Training from Temple University. During his time at Temple, he worked with various athletic teams, served as a teaching assistant for Anatomy and Physiology I & II lab courses, and gained comprehensive experience in athletic training.
