DURHAM, N.C. — Duke volleyball travels to Florida to face No. 14 Miami Nov. 21 at 7 p.m., and Florida State Nov. 23 at 1 p.m. The matches will stream on ACC Network Extra.
Last Time OutÂ
The Blue Devils fell in tightly contested matches last week, dropping a 3-2 decision to Virginia Tech and falling 3-1 to Virginia.Â
Duke went back and forth with Virginia Tech, rallying from a 2-1 match deficit to force a decisive fifth frame. In the final set, the Blue Devils and Hokies were tied eight times, including a 14-14 deadlock, before Virginia Tech ultimately secured a 3-2 (29-27, 18-25, 25-22, 20-25, 16-14) victory by claiming the final two points. Offensively, the Blue Devils were paced by freshman Ashby Zubchevich with 19 kills and sophomore Taylor Williams followed with 18. Freshman Charlotte Glass facilitated the attack with 43 assists. Defensively, sophomore Avery Hamlin anchored the back row with 19 digs.
The Blue Devils notched a 25-22 win in the third frame to force a fourth set, but Virginia rallied late to close the match. In the fourth frame, the Blue Devils held a 21-18 advantage before the Cavaliers battled back, taking seven of the final eight points to secure a 3-1 (25-20, 25-23, 22-25, 25-22) victory. Zubchevich paced Duke's attack, finishing one shy of her career high with 20 kills while hitting at a career-best .371 clip. Williams logged a double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs, and Glass followed suit, registering 38 assists and 13 digs.
Offensive ThreatsÂ
The Blue Devils have tallied a total of 1,173 kills this season and rank No. 13 in the ACC in average kills per set (12.09). Zubchevich leads the offense with 284 kills and Williams follows closely behind with 283.
Zubchevich has been dominant on offense for Duke, recording double-digit kills in 13 matches this season. She turned in her best offensive stretch of her career, tallying 42 kills during conference-opening weekend — 21 kills against NC State and 21 marks against Wake Forest.  Last time out, Zubchevich logged 19 kills on 49 attempts for a .224 attack percentage against Virginia Tech and closed the weekend earning 20 terminations on 35 swings to hit at a career-best .371 clip.Â
Williams is having a breakout sophomore campaign. A season ago, she totaled 208 kills, a mark she has surpassed with 283 putaways this year. She boasts a .171 attack percentage and has notched double-digit kills in 15 matches this season. She tallied a career-best 18 kills to help surge the offense to a 3-1 triumph over Bryant in Duke's season-opening match and touched that mark against Virginia Tech with 18 terminations.Â
Defensive EffortsÂ
Duke comes in at fifth in the ACC, earning 1,412 total digs, averaging 14.56 digs per set.Â
Sophomore libero Mailinh Godschall, who ranks first in the conference with 4.05 digs per set, leads the Blue Devils and the ACC with 393 total marks.  She has tallied 20 or more digs in six matches this season — Bryant, Houston, Texas Tech, Mississippi State, Appalachian State and Wake Forest. She came close to that mark last against Boston College, earning 19 gets.Â
Duke has totaled 175.0 total blocks, including 31 solo blocks and 288 block assists, and posts an average of 1.80 blocks per set. Redshirt senior Ngozi Iloh leads Duke with 82.0 total blocks, marking the most she's posted in a season during her collegiate career. She has five or more blocks in five matches this season, posting a career-best eight blocks in the Blue Devils' second matchup against the Tar Heels this season. Last week, she combined for five total blocks, posting three against Virginia Tech and closing the weekend with two denials against Virginia.Â
A Closer Look at the Series Versus MiamiÂ
Duke trails in the all-time series against Miami, 16-18, with the Hurricanes leading the conference matchups, 17-16. The Hurricanes are running with an eight-match win streak over the Blue Devils, with Duke's last win coming during the 2018 season. The series dates back to 2002, when Miami secured a 3-0 victory.Â
A Closer Look at the Series Versus Florida StateÂ
Duke owns a 37-28 lead in the all-time series against Florida State, including a 32-23 advantage in ACC matches. The Seminoles have won 13 of the last meetings with Duke, with the Blue Devils last posting a triumph in 2014. The series began in 1983, when Florida State earned a 3-1 victory.Â
Up NextÂ
Duke returns to North Carolina to face Wake Forest in Winston-Salem Nov. 26 at 3 p.m, before closing its season by hosting California Nov. 28 at 1 p.m. Both contests will stream on ACC Network Extra.Â
