
Men's Tennis Completes Day One Of UVA Invitational

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Duke men's tennis team competed at the UVA Invitational on Friday, with two of eight Blue Devil players posting singles wins on the first day of action in Charlottesville, Va.
Freshman Dylan Arnould posted a win in his first collegiate match, taking down James Lloyd of Radford in straight sets (6-3, 6-4). Arnould received a preseason national ranking of No. 111 last week, and is set to face the 43rd-ranked player in the country in Treat Huey (Virginia) tomorrow.
In the same bracket, seniors Joey Atas and the nation's 44th-ranked singles player, Peter Rodrigues, were defeated, as it took Roy Sichel of Charlotte three sets to down Rodrigues (6-1, 4-6, 6-4). Atas was defeated by Old Dominion's Henrique Concado, 6-4, 6-1.
Duke's second win of the day was posted by David Goulet, as the junior defeated Ashwin Kumar of Harvard, 6-4, 6-2. Goulet will face 39th-ranked Nick Cavady of N.C. State tomorrow. Competing in the same bracket was sophomore Kiril Dimitrov who fell in three sets to Brown's Dan Hanegby.
Alex Stone, Aaron Carpenter and David Lue were also in action in singles play, but each were defeated. Stone was defeated in two sets, while it took Carpenter and Lue's opponents three sets to come away with a victory.
Three Duke doubles teams were in action on Friday as well; results will be available Saturday morning.
