Kiril Dimitrov came one victory shy of qualifying for the 2008 D'Novo Men's All-American Championships main draw as he fell in straight sets on Wednesday.
Dimitrov, who was ranked No. 103 in the preseason ITA singles rankings, defeated two ranked opponents to get to the final round of qualifying but could not sustain the momentum as he dropped both sets against Abdullah Magdas of Southern California 6-4, 6-1. The loss eliminates Dimitrov as he falls to 7-3 in singles on the year.
Duke will have one competitor in the main draw, which begins on Thursday. No. 39
Reid Carleton was selected for the main draw due to his ranking. He is coming off a tournament championship at the UVA Ranked Plus One Invitational two weeks ago. Carleton is 8-1 on the season in singles and has won his last four matches.
The tournament is being held at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla. The main draw championship matches are scheduled to take place on Sunday.
