Blue Devils Advance to ACC Quarterfinals With 4-0 Win

Altamonte Springs, Fla. ? The sixth-seeded Duke men's tennis team claimed a 4-0 victory over 11th-seeded Boston College on Thursday at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla. to advance to the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament.
The match was close at the beginning but Duke was able to come out on top in the first two doubles contests for the first point of the day. No. 34 David Goulet and Christopher Price defeated Brian Garber and Sam Wagner in the No. 1 match, 8-5 and then Reid Carleton and Kiril Dimitrov downed Erik Kreutzer and Jason Sechrist, 8-5, to clinch the point. Goulet and Price improve to 17-13 overall while Carleton and Dimitrov even their record to 13-13 for the season.
In singles three Blue Devils cruised to victory to give Duke the only 4-0 win on the day. Dylan Arnould did not play against Boston College in the regular season meeting but made his impression on Thursday with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Erik Kreutzer at the No. 4 slot. Arnould is now 17-14 on the season in singles.
No. 70 Reid Carleton, who was named to the All-ACC squad today, earned a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2 against Alex Rastorgouev. Carleton reached the 25-win plateau with the victory. Then to clinch the match, Dimitrov closed out a straight set win against Jason Sechrist 6-0, 6-4 in the No. 3 spot. He improved to 16-16 overall on the year. With the match settled, the other three singles contests were not finished.
The Blue Devils improve to 10-12 on the season with the victory and will move on to face Florida State, the No. 3 seed in the tournament, on Friday at 3 p.m. The Eagles fall to 8-17 on the year and are eliminated from the tournament.
