DURHAM, N.C. – Duke volleyball returns to Cameron Indoor Stadium, after spending the past four matches on the road, to host No. 8 Louisville Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m., and Notre Dame Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. Both contests will stream on ACC Network Extra.
Last Time Out
The Blue Devils closed a four-match road swing, falling in straight sets to Syracuse last Friday before dropping a 3-0 decision at Boston College Sunday.
In Duke's loss to Syracuse inside the Women's Building, redshirt senior Ngozi Iloh matched a career-high 14 kills on 23 swings for a .478 hitting percentage to lead the Blue Devil offense. Redshirt junior Millie Muir paced the attack with 14 assists, while sophomore Mailinh Godschall anchored the defense with 10 digs. Iloh also led the team with 1.5 total blocks.
Against Boston College, Iloh, sophomore Taylor Williams and freshman Ashby Zubchevich each registered six kills, while freshman Charlotte Glass dished out a team-best 10 assists. Defensively, Godschall collected a match-high 19 digs, and sophomore Breonna Goss and Iloh added two blocks apiece.
Offensive ThreatsÂ
The Blue Devils have tallied a total of 886 kills this season and rank No. 10 in the ACC in average kills per set (12.66). The offense is led by Zubchevich and Williams, who have each garnered 202 putaways apiece.Â
Zubchevich has been dominant on offense for Duke, recording double-digit kills in nine matches this season. She turned in her best offensive stretch of her career, tallying 42 kills during conference-opening weekend. Against NC State, she powered the Blue Devils' attack with a career-best 21 kills, and followed that effort against Wake Forest by once again matching her career-high with 21 terminations. Her last double-digit outing came against Georgia Tech, when she logged 17 kills.Â
Williams is having a breakout sophomore campaign. A season ago she totaled 208 terminations, a mark she is closing in on with her 202 putaways this season. She boasts a .183 attack percentage and has notched double-digit kills in 11 matches this season. She tallied a career-best 18 kills to help surge the offense to a 3-1 triumph over Bryant in Duke's season opening match.Â
Williams' last double-digit showing came against Georgia Tech and Clemson, when she totaled 21 kills and combined for a .201 clip over the two matches. When facing the Yellow Jackets, she logged 10 kills on 34 swings for a .088 clip, while adding two assists, nine digs and two block assists. Against Clemson, she logged her third double-double of the year, as she notched 11 kills on 32 attempts for a .313 attack percentage along with garnering 10 digs.Â
Defensive EffortsÂ
Duke polls at third in the ACC, earning 1,046 total digs, averaging 14.94 digs per set.Â
Godschall, who ranks first in the conference with 4.54 digs per set, leads the Blue Devils and the ACC with 318 total digs.  She has tallied 20 or more digs in six matches this season — Bryant, Houston, Texas Tech, Mississippi State, Appalachian State and Wake Forest. Last time out, she almost touched that mark, earning 19 digs against Boston College.Â
Duke has totaled 142.0 total blocks, including 26 solo blocks and 232 block assists, and posts an average of 2.03 blocks per set. Iloh leads Duke with 64.0 total blocks, marking the most she's posted in a season during her collegiate career. She has five or more blocks in five matches this season and posted a career-best eight blocks in the Blue Devils' second match up against the Tar Heels. Last time out, she earned two total blocks in each match against Syracuse and Boston College.Â
A Closer Look at the Series Versus Louisville
Louisville leads in the all-time series against Duke, 14-6, including the Cardinals leading the conference series, 11-3. Louisville has won the last 11 times out, and Duke's last win over the Cardinals came during the 2016 season, when the Blue Devils posted a sweep inside Cameron Indoor Stadium. The series dates back to the 1991 season, when Duke earned a 3-1 win inside Cameron Indoor Stadium.Â
A Closer Look at the Series Versus Notre DameÂ
Duke holds the 12-11 advantage over Notre Dame in the all-time series, including the Blue Devils owning the 11-5 ledger in conference matchups. The Blue Devils hold a 7-2 advantage when facing the Fighting Irish inside Cameron Indoor Stadium. In the last matchup a season ago, Notre Dame bested Duke, 3-1, in South Bend, Indiana. The series history between the two teams dates back to the 1982 season, when the Irish came out on top with a 2-0 win in Philadelphia.Â
